There are 55 state sections in the American College of Trial Lawyers, representing every state in the United States, with some populous states divided into two sections, and including the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
Each section has a State Committee, whose members are appointed from among the section. State Committees, along with their counterparts in Canada, are the backbone of the College, and perform important work that includes the nomination of candidates for Fellowship and the organization of local outreach activities.
