Civil Rights Walking Tour     Civil Rights Walking Tour_small
Price: $50 (100% of the ticket price will be donated to the Tennessee Justice Center)
Thursday: 10:00 – 12:00
Friday: 1:30 – 3:30
Saturday: 2:30-4:30

Lead by Fellow Gordon Bonnyman, Co-founder and staff-attorney for Tennessee Justice Center

Join Gordon for a walking tour tracing Tennessee’s pivotal role in the struggles for civil and voting rights, and reflecting the interplay between the courts and popular movements. Extension of the vote to Black men began in the Tennessee State Capitol and the campaign for women’s suffrage culminated there. Tennessee court decisions established the principle of one person-one vote and afforded federal habeas protection to victims of state and local repression. Learn about the unsung heroes whose sacrifices advanced those and other efforts “to form a more perfect union.” The easy, little over one-mile walk on flat surfaces will take you past the Public Library, State Capitol and Metro Courthouse. Each tour is limited in size.
