I am the senior attorney at the Thompson-Hall law firm in Lawrence, Kansas. Lawrence is nestled between Kansas City and Topeka, and is the home of the University of Kansas Jayhawks. My personal practice is limited to civil matters. In addition to numerous jury trials, bench trials, and arbitrations, I had some good fortune in appellate matters early in my career, and that led to being hired to handle dozens of appeals, and numerous appearances in the appellate courts. I am also the Examiner for the Kansas Commission on Judicial Conduct, through which I investigate and prosecute for the Commission, the judicial complaints arising in Kansas. This, too, leads to regular appearances before the Kansas Supreme Court.
I was raised on a small hobby farm outside of Princeton, Illinois. I moved to Kansas to attend the William Allen White School of Journalism, fell in love with a Kansas girl, and subsequently decided to attend the University of Kansas School of Law. My wife, Caprice, and I have one son, Luke. Luke and his wife, Brooke, have provided Caprice and I with our first granddaughter. I shamelessly assure you that she is both brilliant and beautiful, and her soon to arrive brother will be the same. And, yes, I have photos.
