Lou Anna Red Corn is an adjunct profession of law at the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law in Lexington, KY, teaching the school’s Capital Punishment course in the fall of 2023. Red Corn recently retired (2022), as the elected Commonwealths Attorney (DA) for the 22nd Judicial District, Fayette County, Lexington – the states second largest city. She started as a state public defendant in 1984, but has been a prosecutor since 1987. She has tried over 230 felony cases to juries, including 56 homicide cases. She has a special interest in child victim cases, especially child fatalities, child sexual abuse, and child exploitation. Red Corn is currently serving on the FBI CJIS Division Hate Crimes Statistics Task Force. She is a past-president of the National Childrens Alliance, the organization that accredits the nations Child Advocacy Centers, a former board member of the National District Attorneys Association, and past president of the states prosecutors association. She is a enrolled member of Osage Nation, and participates in tribal activities on the Osage Reservation in Oklahoma.
