Mr. Dick, who is a Fellow in the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, formerly was a Partner in the global law firm, Baker & McKenzie, and he served as Chair of that firms North American Litigation Practice Group. During his more than 48 years of trial practice, Mr. Dicks experience has been recognized with his election to Fellowship in the American College of Trial Lawyers (for which he has served as Southern California State Chair, as a member of the Colleges Board of Regents, and as President of the Colleges Foundation). Mr. Dick also has been elected to membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates (for which he has served as President of the San Diego Chapter) and the International Association of Defense Counsel.
A member of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration, Mr. Dick is a Dispute Resolution Neutral with JAMS.
Mr. Dick formerly served as General Counsel to the San Diego County Bar Association and as a Director of the San Diego County Bar Foundation. A Senior Master in the American Inns of Court program, Mr. Dick served as National Trustee for the American Inns of Court Foundation and the Iowa Law School Foundation. He is a Founding Director and an active member in the Association of Business Trial Lawyers in San Diego. Mr. Dick is a recipient of the San Diego trial bars highest award for professionalism — The Daniel T. Broderick III Award — and was the San Diego County Bar Association’s Outstanding Attorney of the Year in 2016.

Education & Bar Admittance
Mr. Dick was admitted to the bar in Iowa and Illinois in 1967 and the U.S. Supreme Court and California bars in 1977. Mr. Dick obtained his law degree from the University of Iowas College of Law, where he served as the Managing Editor for the Iowa Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif. Mr. Dick received his undergraduate degree in political science and religion with honors from the University of Iowa, where he was elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Kappa.
Pro Bono & Community Involvement
Active in community affairs, Mr. Dick served as the Board Chair for LEAD San Diego, Inc., a community leadership development program; he is active in the service work of Rotary International and served as the Chancellor for the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego. He served a four year term as a Commissioner on the City of San Diego Ethics Commission. Mr. Dick is retired as a Captain in the Judge Advocate Generals Corps of the U.S. Naval Reserve.
